Privacy Policy
What RNKD collects, why, how long we keep it, and how to make us delete it. This describes the tools we actually use, not tools we might use someday.

Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how D2r Internet Holdings, LLC (“we”, “us”, or “our”), which operates RNKD at rnkd.online (the “Site”), collects, uses, and discloses information about visitors. RNKD is an independent book review publication written by named readers. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any author, publisher, or retailer. By using the Site you agree to this Policy.
Information we collect

Reading RNKD requires no account, and we do not ask you to submit personal information in order to read it. We collect information in the following ways:
- Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site we and our service providers may collect technical information such as your IP address, device and browser type, operating system, referring pages, the pages and content you view, your click behaviour, and the date and time of your visit.
- Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. Everything beyond what is strictly necessary is set only with your consent.
- Reviewer applications. If you apply to review, we collect what the form asks for: your real name, the name you want shown on the site, your email address, your country, your reading habits, a short biography, a writing sample, and any reading-profile link you choose to give us.
- Contact messages. If you write to us through the contact page or by email, we receive your message and whatever you put in it, including your name and email address if you provide them.
How we use information

- To understand how the Site is used and to measure and improve performance.
- To evaluate reviewer applications and to verify that an applicant is a real person.
- To respond to corrections, copyright notices, accessibility reports, and other messages.
- To personalise content and, where you consent, advertising.
- To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
How we share information

We may disclose information to service providers and partners that perform functions on our behalf, including hosting, content delivery, analytics, and advertising networks. We may also disclose information to comply with law, to enforce our rights, or in connection with a business transfer. Depending on your jurisdiction, some sharing of information with advertising or analytics partners may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under applicable privacy laws — see Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.
We do not sell reviewer applications or contact messages, and we never use them to train machine learning models.
Advertising and Google

We may use third-party advertising companies, including Google (through Google AdSense), to serve ads when you visit the Site. These companies may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies (for example, Google’s advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick DART cookie), together with your IP address, to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

Advertising is never shown on every page. Search, forms, error pages, and these legal pages carry no advertising at all, and no ad code is requested on them.
In regions where consent is required, advertising and analytics cookies are set only after you agree through our cookie consent control, and you can change your choice at any time.
Analytics

We use analytics services, which may include Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the Site. These services may set their own cookies and collect usage data (such as pages viewed and approximate location) to produce aggregate reports. Analytics cookies are set only with your consent.
Links to Amazon
In shortFollowing one hands you to Amazon under their policy, not ours.
Book pages link to Amazon so you can find the edition under review. RNKD is a member of the Amazon Associates programme, but no link on the site carries an affiliate tag yet, so none of them currently attributes a purchase to us. Following one takes you to Amazon, where Amazon’s privacy policy applies, not ours, and where your browser will tell them which page you came from. We do not receive information about what you bought. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
Reviewer applications
In shortRead by a person, kept while we decide, then deleted. Never published.
An application is read by an RNKD editor. It is kept while we evaluate it and deleted if we do not proceed. It is never published, never sold, and never used to train anything. If we accept you, we keep the details needed to run your contributor relationship and your public profile.
We collect only what we need to evaluate an application and confirm you are a real person. We do not ask for your address, phone number, date of birth, or government identification. A public reviewer profile never shows your private email address, your address, or your phone number. Applicants must be 18 or older.
You can withdraw an application at any time and ask us to delete it, using the Privacy option on the contact page.
Contact messages
In shortKept as long as it takes to deal with them.
Messages sent through the contact page are kept until the matter is resolved and then deleted, except where we need to keep a record — for example, a copyright notice, or a correction we have had to act on. Our record of a correction says what was wrong and what changed; it does not name the person who reported it, and it is not published.
Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information.
- United States. Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws (including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and others) may have the right to access, correct, and delete personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising and the sale or sharing of personal information. You can exercise advertising choices through the Cookie Preferences control in the footer or through our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, and we honour the Global Privacy Control browser signal where required by law.
- EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Where the General Data Protection Regulation or equivalent law applies, we process personal data on the basis of your consent, our legitimate interests, or to comply with a legal obligation. You may request access, correction, erasure, restriction, or portability of your data, and you may object to certain processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Data retention

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Technical and analytics data is generally retained in aggregated or limited form. Published reviews are evergreen and stay up until they are withdrawn or corrected.
Children’s privacy
In shortNot a site for children, and reviewers must be 18.
The Site is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not direct marketing to individuals under 16. Reviewer applicants must be 18 or older. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it. RNKD may review books written for children or young adults; that does not mean we accept contributors who are children.
International transfers

We operate in the United States and may process information in the United States and other countries whose data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
