A book review site written by people who read the books.
What this is
RNKD is a small, independent book review publication. Ordinary readers — people with jobs, library holds, and strong opinions — review books they've actually read and publish them under their own names. When several of them read the same book, we put every take on one page and call it a Roundtable.
The name is "ranked" with the vowels taken out. We don't rank anything, actually. Different people reading the same book and walking away with different opinions is the whole product, and a ranking would flatten it.
Why it exists
Most places you can read about books are either a retailer, a database with a comments section, or a professional critic. We wanted the thing in between: what a few specific, identifiable, non-professional people honestly thought, laid out so you can find the reader whose taste predicts yours. The person who hated a book is as useful to you as the person who loved it — sometimes more.
Who runs it
A very small team: one editor who runs the site and verifies reviewers, and the readers themselves, who number in the single digits at the moment. There's no newsroom, no board, and no office. If that changes, this paragraph will.
DESIGN PLACEHOLDER · replace with the actual operator description before launch. Do not invent a larger organization.
How it makes money
Two ways, both disclosed everywhere they appear. First, advertising, on pages that have a real review on them and nowhere else — not on this page, not on legal pages, not on search. Second, Amazon affiliate links: if you buy a book through a "View on Amazon" link, RNKD may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Reviewers don't get a cut, and neither the ads nor the links have anything to do with what anyone writes.
What we don't take: books, money, or favors from authors, publishers, agents, or publicists. If someone connected to a book sent us a copy, we couldn't review it here.
