Good, and shorter than it looks — a third of it is letters you can skim.
Hale was a lighthouse-service administrator who wrote to everyone, and Ashby lets her do most of the talking. Read the connecting chapters closely and the letters selectively. Three and a half; I liked her a great deal and him slightly less.
